We believe human connection is important.

Now more than ever, trust amongst peers and a sense of belonging is critical for employee engagement and retention. With Mystery’s proactive engagement platform and world-class virtual events, we’re bringing coworkers “together.” And they’re having fun doing it!

“In the new virtual environment, it can be difficult to create engaging events that employees want to participate in. By using Mystery’s platform, I was able to improve our average attendance rate from 35% to 75% even with a multi-regional, global team.”

Proactive engagement matters

Knowing the who, what, when, and why behind every Mystery experience is what makes working with us so special. We’re the only virtual and hybrid events platform that helps you proactively plan goal-oriented your team bonding. And the events get even better as we get to know you (Mystery users feel 6.4% more connected to their teammates after just their second experience).

OUR VALUES

Optimize for happiness

For ourselves, our customers, and our partners—we make decisions that optimize for happiness. We invest the time, energy, and resources necessary in the pursuit of happiness.

Be the main character

We approach ambiguity head-on and cast ourselves as the protagonist in our own lives. We strive to make informed decisions but are willing to act on our gut. We don’t like losing, but hate not winning.

Have ingrained empathy

We believe our best work comes from starting with deeply ingrained empathy. The best solutions start with an extensive understanding of our problems, customers, and people.

Relentlessly resourceful

We stop at nothing to solve incredibly difficult problems. We are world class risk takers and love being proved wrong. Our curiosity leads us to learn faster than anyone else.

Timeline

An idea is born

December 2018

Mystery (then “Thrilla”) kicks off in private beta. A night out you don’t have to plan.

Launch day

February 2019

Mystery Launches just before Valentine’s Day. 1,000s sign up, friends pitch in, and the worst snowstorm in a decade leads to LOTS of cancellations. 💔

Mystery turns one

february 2020

A year later we turned an idea into a scalable business. We raised money from incredible investors, hired amazing people, built deep customer love on both sides of our marketplace and created truly special technology to power the whole thing.

Introducing: Mystery Night In

MARCH 2020

A surprise night out wasn’t what people needed anymore. Our suppliers needed our help, and our customers needed something to do. Putting half a million back into local businesses during this time is still something we’re extremely proud of.

Introducing: Mystery For Business

SEPTEMBER 2020

COVID changed the workplace forever. Teams were less connected, everyone felt less motivated, and no one had an answer other than really terrible virtual events.

We launched products for businesses that bring people together through magical experiences. Over 150 companies signed up in the first month and hundreds more would soon follow in the months to come.

Today

2021

We’re delighting more people than ever before. We’ve found product fit (again) with B2B and are focused on scaling magical experiences across enterprise. Everything we know about experience design, advanced logistics, and automation is being used to bring teams together at scale. That’s pretty cool.

Tomorrow

2021

If these last couple years have taught us anything, it’s that you can’t predict what’s going to happen tomorrow, let alone beyond that. But we’re ready and excited to bring surprise and delight wherever we go. There are worse ways to spend your nine-to-five.
